About Porter

When I was just 12 years old, I watched a Hercules movie that forever changed the trajectory of my life. The lead character was former Mr. Universe, Steve Reeve.  As soon as I saw him, I said to myself, "I want to look like him."  I started to workout in my garage and later in a shed with some of the guys in the neighborhood.

My physique responded to my hard work. I was the overall winner at the NPC Junior Nationals in 1988 and won the lightweight division of the NPC Nationals in 1991. I began competeing in IFBB events the next year and finished in the top 10 at the Mr. Olmypia in Helsinki in 1992. Two years later I was a top-5 finisher in in the Mr. Olympia held in Atlanta.

I retired from professional body building in 1999, but in 2011 I was honored to be inducted into the International Federation of Bodybuilding Hall of Fame. Here, I joined the ranks with Arnold Schwarzeneggar, Frank Zane, and my childhood idol, Steve Reeves.

After retiring from bodybuilding, I worked for another decade and retired as a professional firefighter. I then started his personal training business and have trained hundreds of clients over the past twenty years.  My passion as I get older it to help guys over 40 lose weight, build muscle, and feel great into their 50s, 60s, 70s and beyond.

Podcast and Radio

As a way of fulfilling my passion of helping guys be the best they can be, I host a podcast called Body Achieved. I am also a frequent guest on podcasts and radio shows around the world. I enjoy speaking about how to lose fat and build muscle mass, nutrition, proper workout routines, the role of hormones, and much more. If you'd be interested in having me as a guest, email me and my team at porter@mobilefit.com.
